Tips¶
Use the Tips Web Part to display a random daily tip on a page
Library¶
Creating a new Library¶
Note
Before completing the following steps, ensure that you have at least contribute permissions on the site that you are working on.
- Navigate to Site Contents of the site.
- Create a List
- Navigate to the list that has just been created
- Open the List settings and open advanced settings.
- Set the option
Allow management of content types?

.Click ok at the bottom of the page to save and exit.
- Click the link
Add from existing site content types
. - Search for the Content Type 'Tip Of The Day' and click

, then click OK. - Click the link

Delete this content type
and click OK.
The list is created and ready to add tips to.
A list can also be created from the Web Part property pane. simply add the Web Part to a page and click on the "create list" button

Font Size | Set the font size. |
Colour by Theme | Set the font colour to use site theme. |
Font Colour | Set the font colour to a custom colour. |
Boldness | Set how bold or not the font is. |
Position | Set where the font positions in the webpart. |
Italics | Set font to be Itallic. |

Hide button | Hide the button completely* |
Button Text | Set the text that appears in the button when it appears. |
> Button will only appear if there are more than 1 tip in the list and the "Hide Button" toggle is off. |
Config Repository¶
This web part supports use of the config repository, to allow users to save and load configurations of web parts with ease.
Loading a config file will populate the web part properties with properties from the incoming file.
SharePoint¶
Saving to SharePoint allows collaboration between users in a tenant.
The path the file is saved to is tenant-name/Site Assets/Mercury Assets/webpart-name.json.
Permissions¶
To save a file to SharePoint, edit permissions are required on the root Site Assets library.
To load a file from SharePoint, read permissions are required on the root Site Assets library.
OneDrive¶
Saving to OneDrive allows a user to save a file locally, this is the best option when a user does not have the required permissions to save to SharePoint.
The path the file is saved to is Mercury Assets/webpartname.json.
